    Reminiscence Conversation Cards

    Reminiscence Conversation Cards

Familiar prompts to encourage stories, memories and connection.

    Why it may help

Visits can fall into silence when recent events cannot be recalled and "what did you do today?" leads nowhere. Prompts about earlier life reach memories that often remain vivid, giving both people something genuine to talk about.

    Key features

Open questions about childhood, work, music and everyday life from earlier decades. Large, clear print. Sturdy cards that handle repeated use. No right answers and no scoring.

    How to use

Use a few cards at a time, unhurried. Follow whatever the person wants to talk about rather than working through the pack. Repetition of a favourite story is fine, the point is the connection, not new information.

    Who it may not suit

Some prompts may touch on grief or difficult history read through first and remove any that do not suit. Avoid anything that feels like a memory test.
